Making the Most of Your Headshots Session
Thanks for booking your headshots with RJTphotos! Here’s a few tips to help you get the best results from your studio shoot.
Clothing
Keep it simple. A plain shirt or T-shirt is ideal. No logos or designs should be visible, and I’d advise against hoods and details like epaulettes. Since the subject of a headshot is your face, any distractions from this are best kept to a minimum. The studio has changing facilities, so feel free to bring as many changes of clothes as you like.
Jewellery
None at all is best, but if you do want to wear jewellery the smaller and more subtle it is, the better.
Make-up
Once again, this is best kept clean and simple. Heavy eye make-up or overblown blusher will leave a casting director wondering what you really look like under there. Any spots or bags can be edited out later, so don’t feel you have to go crazy with the concealer if you wake up on the morning of the shoot with a zit on the end of your nose.
Shave
Gents, unless stubble is part of your desired look, have a shave before you arrive. The camera misses nothing.
Timing
Try to arrive with some time to spare. If we’re pushed for time, you’re likely to look flustered and this will be apparent in your shots. Arrive nice and early and you’ll be in a much more relaxed frame of mind.
Can I Bring a Friend?
Sure! But don’t forget that you’re going to be having your picture taken, so make sure it’s someone who you won’t feel embarrassed having around during the session. (Headshots sessions are not ideal for a first date.)
Anything Else?
I think I’ve covered most bases here, but if you have any questions at all, feel free to get in touch. You can contact me via the website, email me at ask@RJTmail.com, or call me direct on +44 (0)7516 004449.
Remember, your shoot is all about you, and we want you looking your best on the day.
Thanks once again for booking with RJTphotos. I’m really looking forward to working with you!
Best regards,
Robert James Taylor
